(From the City Budget Survey) Street Construction
Please schedule better so that multiple street projects in close proximity are not underway at the same time
The City of Chandler is very cognizant of this issue and have been careful in the planning of City capital improvement projects in coordination with developer and private utility construction projects. We need to balance the need for the completion of the project with the impact on the traveling public. With the City projects we obviously have control over the schedule, but with the developer and private utility projects we only have limited control on their construction schedule. In general, we try to limit construction on arterial streets to no closer than a two mile spacing in order to keep an unrestricted arterial street between any two projects; however, that is not always possible given the needs of the developer or private utility. When we cannot achieve the two mile spacing we either limit the construction activities or push back construction schedules as much as possible to minimize the impact to the traveling public. Also, from just before Thanksgiving to just after News Years Day, we limit construction on arterial streets near major shopping areas.
